Cooroy v2 – updated April 2024
Take one piece of fat wrinkled top grain leather. Shape, glue, fold it and wax stitch along each edge. Simplicity is often the best.
Unburnished edge. Side /edge has a raw finish.
Vintage style, similar to the original ‘Cooroy’ strap but is slightly more finished in appearance.
Stainless brushed buckle.
Strap is dark brown and may be darker than what appears in images.
V2 and v3 are very similar in appearance. On some batches the leather differs slightly in appearance.
Buckle may vary depending on availability.
Buckle Sizes
same as lug except for odd sizes
3-4mm buckle prong
20mm lug – 20mm buckle
21mm lug – 20mm buckle
22mm lug – 22mm buckle
23mm lug – 22mm buckle
24mm lug – 24mm buckle
26mm lug – 26mm buckle
Note: 26mm buckles are not a common size and are quite hard to source therefore buckle colour is limited in 26mm.
—Notes from Rob Shop manager—
You could dye the stitching brown to match the leather or any colour if you wanted to.
Tip: use a toothpick or cotton swab that won’t drip dye and touch/dab stiching only. Dye will soak up into the stitching quite quickly.
Note about adding a clasp: you can use this strap with a clasp but realise that the leather is top grain thick. Threading through the clasp fitment clip to attach prong to your size adjustment hole will be a tight fit. You only have to do this once however when finding your size.
I have fitted clasps to all of the Cooroy straps on most of my large watches, Breitling navi for example and with a little patience you can too.
The majority of clasps accept strap thickness up to 3.5mm. The thickness of the Cooroy leather is 3.8mm’s (approx). 1.8mm (doubled) wrapped at lug and add glue in between = 3.8mm’s thickness approximately.
Again. it’s a tight fit for a clasp but achievable. Good luck and hope you enjoy as much as I do.
